Did you know that many churches and other organizations choose books to read and discuss together. When I used to work at Borders, businesses would often order 10-20 books to give to all of their managers.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if our various ministry committees each read a book together every year? Social Concerns, Missions, Worship, Christian Ed., Finance...each pick out a book pertaining to their area of ministry and discuss it when they meet.
What do you think? Would anybody like to read a book with me?
I am always reading a book, so I would definitely be open to reading one together with a committee. Many missions members read the Chuck Colson book several years ago, but we never got together to discuss it. Maybe you could bring some suggestions for Missions group to our next meeting in October. I will see if I can come up with one I haven't read yet that would pertain to Mission outreach. Most of what I read is historical fiction.
ReplyDeleteSounds good Vicki. I'd be happy to bring some ideas. If not a book, I could also bring copies of an article that might be stimulating. I'd love the the administrative council to read a book together too.
